1. junction diode
① What are the other applications of diode in electrical devices.
1) Half wave rectifier
The (ideal) diode conducts for vi >0 and since Rf =0 , V0 is almost Vi
For vi < 0 the (ideal) diode is an open circuit (it doesn't conduct) and V0 is 0.
2) Diode Clipper Circuits
When the diode is off the output of these circuits resembles a voltage divider
If RS << RL , The level at which the signal is clipped can be adjusted by adding a d.c. bias voltage in series with the diode.
② Using approximation 3 in fig 4-3, draw equivalent circuit of junction diode

③ Explain the reason why there is difference between measured value and calculated value in table 4-2.
We can calculate the value of the resister by using gradiant btween two point is inverse of resistance value. But that gradiant is expotential function at the real diode. So it can be error in there. The value of the resistance is different by the value of current and voltage. Specially, at 0.6~0.8 voltage, there are much change of gradiant that have much difference between measured value and calculated value.
